07/24/2002:
We spend two days in the quietness of the Makgadikgadi Pans. This huge area has been a very big lake thousands years ago. After climatic changes, the lake dried and let place to several salt pans on a 12.000 km² area. The white salt on the ground gives this wide landscape a magical aspect - especially at its "spiritual" middle, the Kubu Island.

One of the most beautiful places in Botswana is the Okavango Delta. This huge water area is created by the Okavango river that does not end in the ocean but splits up and disappears in the North West of Botswana; its masses of water vaporise in the middle of the Kalahari. Lots of wild animals are attracted every year to this huge area. We cruise in our car the whole day through the Moremi National Park that stretches on 3.900 km² over the Delta. Between Mopane-trees or papyrus-covered water we search the animals and the birds. Here is the result of our (photo-)hunt!

07/17/2002:
We are in Maun (Botswana), south of the famous Okavango Delta. We have to stay in the city because our car needs to get repaired: the u-junctions in the propshafts are worn and have to be replaced. Not really surprising after 80.000 kilometres off-road!!
In addition, one of our tyres got a very bad hole, so we have to get two new tyres also ...
So today we loose time and money!! That's life!

07/14/2002:
After two and a half months in Namibia, we leave today this beautiful country. Namibia offers so much: spreaded landscape, different African ethnic groups, sandy deserts, wonderful animals and plants. You need a lot of time to discover this large country (as big as France and Germany together).
With this experience we go further on the long way of our world trip. Botswana opens its doors in front of us... .

07/09/2002:
On the way to Windhoek, we stop at the Waterberg Plateau near Otjwarango. We make a walk to the top that is 200 meters higher than the valley and offers a marvellous view. The 18.000 hectares on the top are a reserve for the interesting wildlife of the area.

07/08/2002:
We spend a whole day in the Etosha National Park. It is one of the biggest nature reserves on Earth. Withing it`s size of 22.270 km2 game viewing is very easy, because most of the animals are well used to cars.
